So, what is involved?

A Participation group is a community-led group that can be linked to a particular health and social care topic, service, organisation or geographical area. Ideally it will involve a good mix of people that reflects the diversity of community.

Meetings and Surveys

As representatives of our patient population your opinions would be helpful in identifying areas of improvement within the Practice as well as influencing the development of local healthcare services. We would gather this information by inviting you to attend meetings as well as participate in online surveys up to four times a year. Occasionally, we may contact you for your opinion on certain proposed changes

Reporting Back

We will publish on our website a report of Patient Group Activity and subsequent achievements.

If you would like to become a member of the Patient Group, please ask at reception for a form, alternatively you can join via this website.

The Aims of the Patient Participation Group

We would like to know how we can improve our service to you and how you perceive our surgery and staff.

To help us with this, we are setting up a virtual patient representation group so that you can have your say. We will ask the members of this representative group some questions from time to time, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you received. We will contact you via email and keep our surveys succinct so it shouldn’t take too much of your time.

We aim to gather around a hundred patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups.

If you are happy for us to contact you occasionally by email please click the link opposite to open the sign-up form and complete all the fields.

Veteran Friendly Practice!

The Strand Medical Centre/Family Practice  are proud to be an accredited Veteran Friendly GP Practice and to support our veteran community.
As a veteran Friendly GP practice we:

Charities
Walking with the Wounded 0161 205 9287
Helps support vulnerable veterans to re integrate back into society and sustain their independence. At the heart of this is employment. They recognise the inherent skills of our armed service personnel and build on these strengths.
RAFA - Royal Air Forces Association 0800 018 2361
When someone in the RAF family needs help, the charity they turn to is the Royal Air Forces Association. Whatever their need, they can rely on RAFA every step of the way to give practical assistance, expert advice and emotional support.
Royal British Legion - Veterans Gateway 0808 802 1212
The new Veterans Gateway from Royal British Legion is the first point of contact for veterans seeking support. They put veterans and their families in touch with the organisations best placed to help with the information, advice and support they need - from health care through to housing.
If you are a veteran patient, please let us know that you have served so that we can make sure that we understand your health needs and ensure you are getting the best possible care.

Ask patients ‘Have you served in the Armed Forces?’ to help identify veteran patients.
Support veteran patients to access dedicated health services.
Undertake regular training and development to meet the health commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant and better understand the needs of veteran patients.
We are aware that sometimes veterans find it difficult to access services in the NHS, but as a Veteran Friendly Practice we understand some of the specific health needs that veterans have.
